Easter baskets for kids and adults

17 February 2026 • 5 min read

Easter baskets are a feel-good tradition that can be so much more than the classic children’s treat. Why not make it a brilliant excuse to spoil those special people in your life, from tiny tots to your other half to your best mates?

Whoever you want to indulge, there’s an Easter basket idea out there to suit every vibe and every budget. Whether you keep it sweet and simple with classic chocolate favourites or go all out with a themed hamper, Easter baskets are a lovely way to show your loved ones you care.

Think fun, colourful bundles for little ones packed with toys and treats, pamper-filled picks for adults who deserve a bit of me-time, or cute, personalised surprises for friends. You can even build your basket around a theme - spring pastels, movie night, or your child’s favourite superhero - and mix in small gifts alongside the classic eggs.

This is exactly the kind of fun challenge we love here at Very HQ, so we set five of our finest minds (thank you Abbie, Alex, Sian, Claire and Jas!) to work on creating their own fabulous Easter baskets. All with different audiences in mind to give you maximum inspo for own project! No previous eggs-perience necessary - let’s hop to it!

Picking the right basket

Choosing the right basket is where it all begins, and it’s worth giving it a little extra thought before you start filling. Start with size – you’ll want something that comfortably fits your planned goodies without feeling overcrowded or, on the flip side, looking a little sparse.

Then think about style. Classic wicker baskets are a firm favourite for a reason – they’re sturdy, timeless and give that traditional Easter feel. Fabric baskets are a great option for little ones, especially with soft handles and playful designs, while themed baskets (think bunnies, florals or pastel prints) can add an extra layer of fun and personality.

Once you’ve found the perfect basket, build your base with shredded paper or soft tissue to add height and structure. It not only protects your treats but helps everything sit just right, giving your basket that full, beautifully styled look before it’s even been unwrapped.

What to put in an Easter basket?

This was the big question our team looked at first - and they quickly came to the conclusion that an Easter basket is the ultimate mix-and-match moment. Yes, chocolate is usually a must (it is Easter, after all!) but the real magic happens when you balance sweet treats with thoughtful extras.

Start with a few classics - a big egg, a few mini eggs, a chocolate bunny - then layer in small gifts to make it feel extra special. For younger kids, that could be stickers, colouring books, bubbles or a cuddly chick. Tweens and teens might love beauty minis, fun stationery or a cool water bottle. And for adults? Think luxury choc, a scented candle, cosy socks or even a bottle of fizz.

The key is tailoring it to the person. Are they into crafts, gaming, baking or football? Add something that nods to their interests and it’ll feel far more personal. A great Easter basket isn’t just about sugar overload – it’s a little bundle of “I saw this and thought of you.”

Easter basket ideas by age

We’re delighted to share the beautiful Easter baskets created by Abbie, Alex, Sian, Claire and Jas for special people in their lives. Those lucky recipients will definitely be getting an Easter to remember!

Easter basket ideas for toddlers

Creating an Easter Basket is the perfect activity to kickstart celebrating the joys of spring - and this year, I’m treating my toddler to a selection of Easter-themed goodies. At just over one, she’s not quite ready to enjoy all the chocolate-y delights of Easter, so I decided to focus on fun yet practical items that she’ll make use of all spring and into summer. Let’s dive into exactly what I went for.

Firstly, UK weather? It’s unpredictable to say the least. I wanted to be armed with items ready for whatever weather the Easter weekend has in store. April showers? No problem! These mini Hunter boots are perfect for splashing in muddy puddles. The springtime design and adorable bear character are going to look so cute stomping in the garden post Easter lunch. If the sun makes an appearance (please!) this lemon print sunhat will protect her precious skin from the first spring rays, whilst throwing on this sweet rainbow striped cardi will keep any chills at bay during an Easter egg hunt. I’m all for anything creative that doesn’t create mess – so hello outdoor chalk and garden themed Play-Doh - they’re sure to keep her busy whilst I crack on with some real-life gardening.

Easter Baskets for Kids

It’s feeling a little more like spring everyday day, and this year I’m getting in the Easter mood early by creating a fun-filled Easter Basket for my little boy! He’s soon to turn 3, and this year, he’s super excited for egg hunts and all things bunny themed. Knowing he’ll be inundated with chocolate eggs from our friends and family, I wanted to focus on a slightly less sugar-rush-inducing Easter treat, with a basket brimming with both playful and practical items to set him up for the new season.

I started with some arts and crafts - this Easter-Themed Activity Book is packed with classic games and creative colourings while the option to personalise the pages makes it extra special. I’ve also paired it with these mess-free Paint Pens, that are perfect for keeping kids entertained (whilst us parents prep the roast dinner).

Easter wouldn’t be complete without an egg hunt, and I couldn’t resist this Personalised Sign to kick off the celebrations in style. For his main present, I’ve gone for an Easter Egg with a pre-historic twist - this Smashers Junior Dino Dig Egg from Zuru is the chocolate alternative that’s sure to delight any dino lover. Little explorers will love digging through the colourful dino dough to discover the hidden dinosaur pieces!

Easter baskets for teenagers

This Easter basket was put together with a teenage girl in mind, focusing on things that feel fun, comforting, and a little bit grown-up. It can be tricky to choose Easter gifts that match a teenager’s personality whilst being age appropriate, so I went for products that felt sweet, useful and thoughtful! The Silver Cloud Caramel Heatless Curlers are comfortable to wear for long periods of time and really simple to wrap in your hair. The Katie Loxton Notepad looks so chic and is perfect for jotting down thoughts, plans, and daydreams. The Stanley Iceflow Bottle is a great practical present and is ideal for those wanting to stay hydrated as it fits so much in!

Easter baskets for women

Easter baskets for women

Creating the perfect Easter basket for a woman is all about balancing indulgence with genuine self-care. This year, I’m putting one together for my sister who is a busy mum of two who rarely gets a quiet moment to herself. Instead of the usual chocolate overload, I wanted to create a thoughtful self-care Easter basket that encourages her to slow down and unwind.

I started with comfort. Very has such a gorgeous range of patterned pyjamas that feel both special and practical. I chose a lightweight strawberry-print set from Boux Avenue. They’re soft, breathable and perfect for the lighter evenings as spring rolls in. Paired with fluffy bow slide-on slippers, it’s an instant cosy upgrade and the ideal excuse for an early night.

No relaxing evening is complete without a little skincare treat. I’ve seen countless rave reviews for the Medicube Zero Pore Pads, so they felt like a great addition. They’re quick, easy to use and slot seamlessly into an existing routine. Perfect for a busy mum who wants glowing skin without adding extra steps to her day.

Easter baskets for men

Finding Easter basket items for a man ended up being a lot easier than I thought, if a little spenny! I wanted to go for items that he would genuinely love and use rather than novelty Easter products, with a bit of indulgent luxury that he wouldn’t usually consider getting for himself. I started with the Elemis Men’s Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 30ml - Elemis is my holy grail skincare brand because you can really see the difference from your very first use. The cream feels super premium and it’s packed with anti-ageing and antioxidant ingredients to soothe skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

I paired it with the Remington RX7 Ultimate Head Shaver; a practical addition to his basket but still feels like a self-care treat. The finish this shaver gives easily rivals a barbershop and I knew he’d consider it a ‘solid bit of kit’ - is there any better compliment a man can give?

Easter basket fillers that aren’t chocolate

Who says Easter baskets have to be all about chocolate? If you fancy doing something a little different this year, there are plenty of fun, thoughtful ways to fill a basket without a single sweet in sight.

For creative kids (or crafty adults!), think colouring books, paint-your-own egg kits, sticker packs or cute stationery sets. Notebooks in pastel shades, novelty pens and bunny-themed washi tape are perfect for adding a springtime twist. Small toys are another winner - mini puzzles, card games, slime kits, boardgames or pocket-sized building sets all feel exciting without being sugary.

Want something cosy? Pop in a pair of fun socks, a hair accessory, a baseball cap or even some playful jewellery. These little style extras make the basket feel personal and wearable long after Easter weekend.

You can also include mini home treats like a small scented candle, a cheerful mug, a plant pot or a cute photo frame. It’s all about mixing practical bits with playful touches.

With a little imagination, you can create a basket that’s colourful, creative and completely chocolate-free - proof that Easter gifting can still be sweet even without the sugar rush.

Easter baskets on a budget

Creating an Easter basket on a budget is totally doable - and, in truth, sometimes a simple basket can feel the most thoughtful.

The formula is simple: one eye-catching main gift, some cheerful extras and a lovely finishing touch. Start with one main gift to anchor everything. The obvious solution here is a large Easter egg, of course – chocolate is usually the right answer to most questions in my experience! But if you want to think a little differently (and give your dentist a day off), you could go for a large cuddly toy, LEGO set or a board game if your basket is for a child.

When it comes to adults, a luxury Easter egg, premium candle, hardback book, skincare gift set or even a bottle of fine wine are all strong options for centre stage.

Then build around it with budget-friendly fillers. For kids, add mini eggs, sticker packs, books, bubbles, small toys or fun socks. For adults, think artisan chocolate bars, bath treats, cosy accessories, face masks or a cute spring-themed mug. If you’re making more than one basket, multipacks are ideal for keeping costs down while making everything look plentiful.

Don’t forget about presentation! Reuse an old wicker basket, storage box or gift bag and line it with tissue paper for height - we find coloured paper put through a home shredder and scrunched up a bit really provides that ‘straw’ feel! And remember, it’s not about how much you spend - it’s about creating a bundle that feels fun, personal and full of Easter joy.

Last-minute Easter basket ideas

Left it a little late this year? Don’t panic - last-minute Easter baskets can still look totally thoughtful (and fabulous). The trick is to keep it simple and shop smart.

Start with the essentials you can find in a supermarket: a few chocolate favourites, including mini eggs or a classic bunny. Then add easy, small extras that are equally quick to grab or available with fast delivery - think cosy socks, beauty minis, candles, mugs or cute stationery. These little add-ons bulk out your basket in seconds and make it feel more personal.

Pre-filled gift sets are another useful go-to if time is tight. Ready-made chocolate hampers, pamper bundles or themed gift boxes take the stress out of styling and still feel special. Just pop one into a basket with some colourful shred and you’re done!

If delivery times are against you, a digital gift card is the ultimate back-up plan. Print it out, tuck it into the basket with a sweet treat, and you’ve got a present that’s instant but still thoughtful. See? Easter saved.

Go for it, Egghead!

Hopefully you’re now left feeling confident about building your own Easter basket!

Remember, there’s no ‘right’ way to do it - it’s all about you and the lucky recipient. It can be chocolate-heavy, completely sweet-free, themed to perfection or pulled together at the last minute with bits you already have at home. The best baskets are the ones that feel personal - a nod to their favourite hobby, colour or guilty pleasure.

So grab your basket (or gift bag!), layer it up and have fun with it. After all, Easter is all about sharing a little joy - and what better way to do that than with a bundle made to show just how much you care? Happy basket building!
